Comparison between Lamb to the Slaughter and The Way Up to HeavenThere are similarities and differences between the two stories. The similarities are that both of them involved couples where the wives had a sudden change in character and took the drastic step of killing their own husbands. The husbands of both stories had taken their wives for granted. The wives were very pleasing, loyal, loving and had changed to vicious and ruthless women when the story reaches the climax. The impression the wives presented to the readers is that they are shrewed, calculating and extremely talented in acting. They showed no remorse about the death of their husbands and had taken it very calmly. This is a sharp difference from the wives presented in the present of the story to the readers. Both the wives had planned very well on what to do to get away with murder. One could only guess which is the real wife in the stories... The differences in the stories are that the wives had destroyed the evidences in different ways and the husbands in the stories are bad in different ways. The husbands had died in different ways. The husband in the Way Up to Heaven had died slowly in the lift while the husband in Lamb to the Slaughter had died a quick death. I think Lamb to the Slaughter is a better story than Way Up to Heaven although their storyline are about the same. Lamb to the Slaughter had some parts which are humorous. I think the disposal of evidence in Lamb to the Slaughter is interesting and Lamb to the Slaughter had the ability of hooking the reader onto the story and let the reader want to finish reading the story. On the other hand, The Way Up to Heaven does not hook me on the story that much, therefore I like Lamb to the Slaughter better.
