Descriptive Essay on War
“Bang…Bang” sound of guns firing could be heard every second. People are running for their lives in the WW2 in 1942. The streets were infested with Japanese Soldiers marching up and down, as if searching for the one household which did not hang the flag of Japan high. Scenes of people crying because of the loss of their loved ones who were sent to the Prisoner of War camp could be heard. Singapore was in her lowest times and the streets of Singapore seemed to be crying, with blood stains in every corner of the streets.
The streets appeared to be in a very bad state as rubble of pillars which were destroyed could be seen. There is a crack on every wall which seems like it is going to collapse any time. In the midst of all the destruction, there was a soldier who was struggling to survive after suffering a gunshot. The man was wearing an army suit and was most probably fighting against the Japanese together with Singapore. He is one of the Australian soldier from the Five Power Defence Arrangments (FPDA) who fought together with Singapore, a land he had never step on.
This brave soldier was caught in a black and white picture and shows the sorrow, despair and desperation of WW2. The determination of the soldier to survive could clearly be seen in the picture. The soldier is lying low so as to survive. The remains of destroyed houses was stained with blood and bullet holes. The black and white picture also conveys the uselessness of war and seemed to be conveying a message to the world that war should be avoided as there is only bad and no good when there is war.
